Best in the nation. Pies are very delicious and tasty, most of all, it's not too salty and you can still taste the real meats and stuff inside the pies. Fruit pies are also great. Highly recommended to try here even though you may not like pies. This place will change you.
Today my opinion went down as there were four flies having their fun on the bakery cabinet, walking all over the food. All they did was shop them out. Nope, don't take out the food, just leave it. The coffee min was hard yet 'watery'. Milkshakes are a different story, they were good.
This bakery has a lot of flair, is located in a historic building and the interior is cozy. The white sourdough is really good. However, the range of bread does not include any rye or spelt or serious wholemeal / wholewheat. The staff (at least the ones I encountered) had very little knowledge about their products and the coffee is definitely substandard. The bakery proudly presents themselves as first cashless bakery, but that does not help the product range and quality. Pity it could be an absolutely gorgeous place to be and to have coffee, cake and hours of reading the newspaper or a book.
Pies were pretty good but service was average and the milkshakes take ages to come out. It was 1pm and they had already run out of their traditional mince pies. On my holiday, I have tested a few bakeries and haydens pies is definitely better.
Delicious pies! We had a steak and mushroom and the peppercorn steak. The pastry was light and buttery. Fillings were good with chunky beef, thick gravy and good seasoning. Generous with the mushrooms and pepper. We also tried the chocolate and almond cake which I enjoyed but not sweet enough for my husband. Quick service even though it was fairly busy.
