We had the tongue tie procedure done on our 20 month old who had issues eating chewy, tough, textured foods and she also had a delay in her speech. She did also struggle to breast feed efficiently as an infant, causing her to not have enough food and to give me, as the breast feeding mother associated pains and complications like mastitis. Whilst I am disappointed that we addressed this too late for those feeding issues, we didn't want her to struggle with or have an aversion to certain foods as she grew up because of the restrictions in her mouth. A week after having the procedure our daughter chewed and swallowed steak for the first time. She no longer spat out the fiborous parts of the orange or mandarin and it was obvious that she had more movement with her tongue. These were all wins and validations of the procedures efficacy. She had a limited amount of words pre-procedure, but after a couple weeks, she was using words like 'Ta' and 'Daddy' words we regularly encouraged but she never used. I can't be sure that the procedure was the sole reasons for these changes in speech, but we are confident it absolutely had an impact on her ability to chew and swallow and are 100% happy that we made that decision to have it done. We can not recommend Dr Jones enough. She was knowledgeable, nurturing and honest and put us at ease when making the decision about the procedure.
We recently saw Enhance Dentisty for my 7week old sons tongue and lip tie as we were having a lot of issues feeding. 8 weeks on and we are so happy with the outcome of the procedure. Things did get worse before they got better but it was just him healing and learning to use his tongue but after the month of stretching was completed we started noticing the changes. He was such an unsettled unhappy baby before the procedure . If he wasn't feeding or seeping he was screaming . Feeding sessions would go for at least an hour and as soon as I took him off the breast he would scream so our days were just constant feeding and he was never satisfied, had poor weight gain, slept no longer than 2 hrs at a time, was very gassy and seemed in pain and his poo colour was a dark green. Not to mention the breastfeeding pain and nipple trauma his bad latch was causing.Our baby is now such a happy, chilled out little baby who barely cries. We can now feed in 20mins, I don't notice him to be gassy or in pain anymore, he is now a chubby, healthy baby and gaining very well, no more nipple trauma and the best part he is finally sleeping!! Most nights one quick half hour feed wake up which is a big change from waking every 1.30-2hrs for 1.30hrs to feed. The procedure has made a dramatic change to our baby and we are so very very thankful :) Thank you Enhance
Our daughter had her tongue and lip released this week by Dr Marjan and her team. My husband and I are both Osteopaths and very much understood the short and long term benefits to the releases. We knew this was the best choice for our little one but knowing there would be some degree of discomfort made me uneasy. We all (hubby, baby and I) felt completely heard and supported every step of the way. The whole team at Enhance (reception staff, Lactaction consultant Remai and Dr. Marjan) were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, warm and heart centred. After our interview and assessment Remai the LC told us that she would be beside our daughter for the procedure and her only job in that moment was to connect with her talk to her and say things like 'I am right here for you. I know it's not comfortable but it will be over in a moment. You are safe.' This made me teary with gratitude. Knowing that this team are so connected and caring made all my worries melt away. We were in the BEST hands. My daughter's lip and tongue tie could not have happened in a more amazing place. *I never imagined I would say that about a dentist* At Enhance they really care about each person like they should be cared for, as a human being.I am totally in awe of our experience with Dr. Marjan Jones and her incredible team. I would say they are leaders in the greater health industry and put the heart into healthcare. We have seen Dr Jones twice after she and her practice were highly recommended by both family and other healthcare professionals. From the first phone call, the reception staff were helpful, friendly and informative. My son had quite a severe tongue tie along with a lip tie and at six days old we made the trip to Brisbane to see Dr Jones. When we arrived, all staff were again friendly and we were helped by a lactation consultant before Dr Jones came in to see us. She quite quickly calmed my nerves (not an easy task considering I'd had a baby less than a week ago) as she was clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. After our consultation, Dr Jones and her team quickly released my sons ties. The immediate aftercare and that which followed in the weeks after was second to none. I would not hesitate to recommend this practice to anybody that has issues with their babies' oral restrictions.
Being someone who is anxious about dentists, with a son of similar ilk, it is a really wonderful experience to sit in the chairs at Enhance.
